Reason Of Naming

The words "Azer" means "fire" in Persian and "baijan," means "home". And the reason for the name "Azerbaijan" is because of the volcanoes which were active in this country and so it has been described in the books of history as a "land of fire". It was also said to have been named as similar to a city in Iran (Explains that the designation of Azerbaijan has been chosen to rob a cultural and historical center from Iran), Which was translated from Iran to "Adarbakan".

Flag

The flag of Azerbaijan was adopted on February 5, 1991. The flag consists of three horizontal lines from the top: Blue, Red, and Green, and the crescent and the star are eight limbs in the middle of the red line.

Blue represents "Turkish people", Red " refers to progress", and Green refers to "Islam". The crescent and the star are a symbol of Islam, and the eight stars represent the eight branches of the Turkish people, the population races of the state.

Climate

In Azerbaijan, the climate is slightly continental, with relatively cold winters and hot summers; it is also dry in most of the low-lying areas, while it is colder and generally rainier in the mountains. The coast of the Caspian Sea is semi-arid in the northern part and arid in the center, while it is rainy in the southernmost stretch, which is, therefore, an exception to the rule that the plains of Azerbaijan are arid. Winter in Azerbaijan is cold but not freezing, at least in the plains. The Caucasus Mountain Range partially protects the interior of the country from outbreaks of cold air from Russia, while along the coast, the cold wind blows intensely but it's tempered by the Caspian Sea. In winter, however, there may be some light snowfalls and frosts on the coast, but especially in inland areas, where cold air stagnates with more ease after the wind has ceased. Summer is hot and sunny, with some afternoon thunderstorms in inland areas. The best times to travel to Azerbaijan are spring and autumn, and in particular, the months of May and October, although in October, it rains a lot in the southern city of Lenkoran. September is usually a good month as well, in Baku and the main territory, while the exclave of Nakhchivan can still be hot during this month.
