Poutine

It is a traditional dish in Canada and very popular there.

This dish is originated in the Canadian province of Quebec during the 1950s.

The classic version consists of french fries and cheese curds topped with light-brown gravy.

Sometimes toppings like pulled pork, bacon, and smoked meat are added to the dish.



Pâté Chinois "Chinese pie"

It is a French Canadian dish similar to shepherd's pie.

The dish is made with layered ground beef mixed with onions on the bottom layer, canned corn for the middle layer, and mashed potatoes on top.

Sometimes variations may include reversing the layers of ingredients with potatoes at the bottom, then meat, topped with cream corn.




Nova Scotia Lobster Roll

It is a sandwich filled with Lobster with a mixture of mayo, lemon juice, green onions, chopped romaine hearts, and tender crumbs of lobster meat.




Split Pea Soup​​

It is a classic French Canadian dish.

Pemmican is a concentrated mixture of fat and protein.

The specific ingredients used for pemmicann were meat and it was often bison, deer, elk, or moose.

Fruits such as cranberries and saskatoon berries were sometimes added.

Blueberries, cherries, chokeberries, and currants were also used, but almost exclusively in special events.

It is simply smoked meat made by salting and curing beef brisket with spices such as coriander, garlic, and mustard seeds, and significantly less sugar.

It consist of butter, sugar, syrup, and eggs filled into a pastry crust.

Sometimes it can be made with raisins or pecans or walnuts.




Nanaimo Bars

It is a Canadian dessert that requires no baking.

They consist of three layers: a crunchy base layer made from crumbs and chopped nuts, custard in the middle part, and a thin layer of chocolate on top, which gives the bar a perfect crunch.

Some people added in the middle mint, mocha, or maple mousse peanut butter flavors.



Pouding chômeur

Literally translated to “the unemployment pudding”.

It is a basic cake batter onto which a hot syrup or caramel is poured before baking.

The cake then rises through the liquid which settles at the bottom of the pan, mixing with the batter and creating a distinct layer at the bottom of the dish.

The syrup or caramel can be made from brown sugar, white sugar, maple syrup, or a combination of these.




Beaver Tails (Flat Doughnut​)

It is a famous dessert in Canada first introduced in 1978 in Ontario.

It is dough stretched to resemble the tail of a beaver, then deep-fried and topped with butter and a generous sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar.

Beaver Tails are now covered in a variety of toppings like Nutella, Reese’s Pieces, peanut butter, and more.




Maple Syrup

It is sweet, sticky syrup its color is gold. It is made from made from sugar maple, red maple, or black maple trees.

It consists of vodka, Clamato (tomato and clam juice blend), hot sauce (Tobasco), and Worcestershire sauce.

It is served with ice in a large, celery salt-rimmed glass, and garnished with a stalk of celery and a wedge of lime.
