Country Name

India or Republic of India.


Location

Located in South Asia. Surrounded by the Indian Ocean in the south,

the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west, China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the northeast; and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east.

In the Indian Ocean, India is in the neighborhood of Sri Lanka and the Maldives, while its Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.

New Delhi.



Reason Of Naming

The name India is derived from Indus, which originates from the Old Persian word Hindush, equivalent to the Sanskrit word Sindhu, which was the historic local appellation for the Indus River.

The ancient Greeks referred to the Indians as Indoi, which means "The people of the Indus".

The geographical term Bharat, which is recognized by the Constitution of India as an official name for the country, is used in many Indian languages in its variations.

Hindustan is a Middle Persian name for India. It was introduced into India by the Mughals and widely used since then.

Its meaning varied, referring to a region that encompassed northern India and Pakistan or India in its entirety.

Currently, the name may refer to either the northern part of India or the entire country.




Flag

The Flag of India was adopted on 22 July 1947.

The Flag of India consists of three horizontal stripes saffron, white & green, and there is a navy blue wheel with 24 spokes in the middle.

The Saffron color represents the strength and courage of the country.

The white middle band represents peace and truth with Dharma Chakra*.

The green shows the fertility, growth, and success of the land.

*The Dharma wheel symbol has represented Buddhism, also known as the wheel of Dharma.


Flag Fact:

- The flag of India is similar to the flag of Niger, both consist of three horizontal bands of color which are orange, white, and green. Both flags also incorporate a circular symbol at the center of the flag. The significant difference between the two flags is that the symbol on the Indian flag features a navy blue Ashoka Chakra at the center whereas the symbol on the flag of Niger features an orange roundel.



Language

India has no national language. There are 22 major languages in India, written in 13 different scripts, with over 720 dialects. But the official language of the government is Hindi, with the largest number of speakers.

English is used extensively in business and administration and has the status of a "subsidiary official language".

Also, India is home to two major language families: Indo-Aryan (spoken by about 74% ) and Dravidian (spoken by 24%). Languages spoken by the remaining population come from the Austroasiatic and Sino-Tibetan language families.




Religion

India is home to at least nine recognized religions.

The major religions practiced in India are Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and the Baha'i Faith are also practiced in India.

Climate

The weather in India is mainly hot most of the year with significant variation from region to region.

the coolest weather lasts from around the end of November to the beginning of March with fresh mornings and evenings and mostly sunny days. The really hot weather when it is dry, dusty, and unpleasant is between March and June.

Monsoon rains occur in most regions in summer anywhere between June and early October.

Since India there are different types of climates, it is difficult to find a single period that fits all of the countries.

Nevertheless, the best time to visit most of India, at least in the plains and hills, runs from November to February. March is still a dry month, but it begins to be hot, with peaks that during the month can exceed 35 °C (95 °F) in the south.
