Reason for Naming the country
Togo's name comes from togodo, which means 'behind the lake' in Ewe – a reference to Lake Togo.
Flag
The flag of Togo was adopted on 28 April 1960. The flag was designed by Aheyi Paul. It consists of five horizontal stripes altering between green and orange-yellow colors. On the top left side, there is a red square is placed that has a white five-pointed star. Red: Represents bloodshed by Martyrs to gain independence White: Represents hope, star of hope Green: Represents the forests, Agriculture, nature, and overall hope for the future Yellow: Represents the natural resources of the country.
Language
Togo is a multilingual country. There are 39 distinct languages are spoken in the country. Of the 39 languages, the official language is French. Two spoken indigenous languages are used as national languages: Ewé, and Kabiyé; they are also the two most widely spoken indigenous languages. French is used in formal education, legislature, all forms of media, administration, and commerce. Ewe is a language of wider communication in the south.
Religion
The majority of the population of Togo adheres to traditional African beliefs. Christians are the second major group and Muslims. Most of Togo’s Christians are Roman Catholics and the remaining are Protestants or belong to other denominations. Many Christians and Muslims continue to perform indigenous religious practices

Climate
In Togo, the climate is tropical, with a dry season in winter and a rainy season due to the African monsoon, which runs from April to October in the center and from May to October in the north, while along the coast, there is a marked decrease in rainfall from July to September.
The best time to visit Togo is from November to January: the air is dry and the weather is usually good. It is true that it's hot during the day, especially in the north, but less so than in the following period, from February to May. The worst period, being the rainiest is from May to June on the coast, and from July to September in the interior.
