Cambodia is located in southeastern Asia. Cambodia is bordered by the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest, Vietnam to the east, Laos to the north, and Thailand to the northwest.

Reason Of Naming
The word 'Kampuchea' is derived from the Sanskrit Kambujadeśa, or Kambuja – an early tribe from northern India who oversaw huge parts of Southeast Asia ahead of the formation of the Khmer Empire. It is thought that Indian traders introduced the name when they discovered remote lands in the region.
Flag
The current flag of Cambodia was adopted in 1993. The first use of the flag was in 1948.

Language
Khmer is the official language in Cambodia. It is spoken by nearly 90% of the country’s population. The language is used in government administration, imparting education at all levels, media, etc. French, once the language of government in Indochina, is still spoken by many older Cambodians and is also the language of instruction in some schools and universities that are funded by the government of France. Although French was the dominant foreign language in Cambodia for a long time, English replaced French in 1993. Currently, street signs in the country are usually bilingual, written in both the Khmer language as well as English. Other Minority Languages spoken in Cambodia are Cham, Vietnamese, Tumpoon, Lao, Yue Chinese, Jarai, and Mon-Khmer languages.
Religion
Theravada Buddhism is the official and by far the most prevalent religion in Cambodia.
There are smaller numbers of other faiths including Islam, Christianity, Animism, Hinduism, Folk religions, and other beliefs.
Almost all of the population follow Theravada Buddhism, Cambodian Buddhism is deeply influenced by Hinduism and native animism.
Mahayana Buddhism is the religion of the majority of Chinese and Vietnamese in Cambodia.

Climate
In Cambodia, the climate is tropical, and hot all year round, with a rainy season from May to mid-November due to the southwest monsoon and a dry season from mid-November to April. The dry season can be divided into two periods: the first is the least hot of the year, while the second, from mid-February to May, before the monsoon arrives, is the hottest of the year. The coolest month is December, while the hottest months are April and May when the heat becomes severe; in the rainy season, the temperature is a bit lower, but the humidity is higher, so the weather is hot and muggy. The best time to visit Cambodia runs from December to mid-February, it is the coolest, driest, and sunniest of the year. The best time for a beach holiday in Cambodia is from December to February.
