Location

Cambodia is located in southeastern Asia. Cambodia is bordered by the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest, Vietnam to the east, Laos to the north, and Thailand to the northwest.

Reason Of Naming

The word 'Kampuchea' is derived from the Sanskrit Kambujadeśa, or Kambuja – an early tribe from northern India who oversaw huge parts of Southeast Asia ahead of the formation of the Khmer Empire. It is thought that Indian traders introduced the name when they discovered remote lands in the region.

Flag

The current flag of Cambodia was adopted in 1993. The first use of the flag was in 1948.

Three horizontal bands of blue, red (double width), and blue, The flag consists of three horizontal stripes blue, red (double width), and blue, with a white silhouette of Angkor Wat, centered on the red band.

The meaning behind colors and symbols of Cambodia's flag are all inspired by the country's cultural beliefs. The red represents the bravery of the Cambodian nation, and Buddhism(the dominant religion in the country), the white represents purity and religious beliefs, the blue color represents unity, and cooperation between the Cambodian people, blue can also represent the royalty of the country’s monarchy. The temple represents the Angkor Wat, a 12th-century temple of great spiritual and cultural importance among Cambodians.
