The reason for naming the country

The name Malawi comes from the Maravi, an old name of the Nyanja people that inhabit the area. The country is nicknamed "The Warm Heart of Africa" because of the friendliness of its people.

Flag

The Malawi flag was adopted on July 6, 1964, the day it gained independence from Britain.

The flag of Malawi consists of three equal horizontal stripes black, red; and green. In the middle of the black stripe, there is a red rising sun with 31 rays

The black color represents the people of the country, the red color represents the blood spilled in Malawi's struggle for independence; while the green color symbolizes the country's vegetation. The rising sun represents the dawn of freedom and hope on the African continent.

Climate

Malawi has a tropical climate (or subtropical at higher elevations), with a hot and wet season from November to April and a somewhat cold and dry season from May to August. From September through November, before the rainy season, the temperature increases to the greatest levels of the year. Temperatures fluctuate with height, although they are comfortable above 1,000 meters (3,300 feet). However, due to the low height, there is a plain region in the extreme south that is hot and humid.

The best time to visit Malawi is from mid-May to August since it is the coolest within the dry season. It should be noted that nights at higher altitudes can be cold, with frosts possible, but at least you avoid the sultry heat and rainfall of December to April, as well as the blistering heat that affects the lowlands from September to November, in addition to storms, which are possible from November to mid-May.

If you don't mind the heat and prefer the risk of getting a little cold at night, you may go in September and October, or the second part of August, when the temperature starts to increase.
