Location
Micronesia is an island country in Oceania associated with the United States. It consists of 4 states Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae.
They lie northeast of New Guinea, south of Guam and the Marianas, west of Nauru and the Marshall Islands, east of Palau and the Philippines, about 2,900 km north of eastern Australia, and 3,400 km southeast of Japan and some 4,000 km southwest of the main islands of Hawaii.

Reason For Naming
The collective name for islands of the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines, including the Mariana, PALAU, Caroline, Marshall, and Kiribati Islands. Micronesia is from the Greek micro, small + nesos, island, so named because the islands in this group are much smaller than those in MELANESIA.
Flag
The flag was adopted on November 30, 1978. The flag is composed of a light blue background with four white stars forming a diamond shape set in the center of the design.
The light blue color represents the vast Pacific Ocean surrounding the islands. The four white stars refer to the four states which make up the federation; Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, and Yap.
This shade of blue was inspired by the official flag of the United Nations. The use of symbolic stars to represent states is similar to the stars found on the official flag of the United States of America.
Language
English is the official and common language, Micronesia has a language policy that places importance on both English as an international language and local dialects for cultural preservation. Besides it, the following Austronesian languages are spoken: Chuukese Language, Kosraean, Yapese, and Pohnpeian.
Religion
Most Micronesians are Christian. Several Protestant denominations, as well as the Roman Catholic Church, are present in every Micronesian state. The major religious sects in Micronesia differ depending on the state. The majority of the population on Kosare Island is Protestant. In Yap Island, the majority are Roman Catholics accounting for nearly 84% of Yap's population. In the Micronesian state of Chuuk, Christianity is the dominant religion with Roman Catholicism being the dominant denomination. In Pohnpei state, Christianity is the dominant religion with the Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic Church has a nearly equal number of adherents in the state. Apart from Christianity and the native religions, other faiths with a presence in Micronesia include Buddhism and Islam.
